Dr. Sylvester Yaw Oppong is a distinguished Physician, Chemical Pathologist, and Healthcare Administrator with over 25 years of leadership in health systems and medical education.

He is currently the Dean of the Family Health University Medical School and the former CEO of the International Maritime Hospital (IMaH), where he was nationally recognized for transforming the facility into a premier tertiary center.

A pioneer in Ghanaian healthcare financing, Dr. Oppong co-established Metcare, the nation's first viable private health insurance scheme.

His extensive governance experience includes serving on the Governing Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), where he chaired the Oversight Committees for both National and Private Health Insurance, driving critical reforms in claims management and tariff frameworks.

Dr. Oppong holds a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Leeds, an MPH from the University of Liverpool, and an Executive MBA from the University of Ghana.
